Antelopes! Antelopes! 03/07/14

Noah's Pals was a series of animal figures which were sold as pairs in little boxes. These figures are no longer in production, so they can be difficult to find. When I purchased the Noah's Pals muntjacs last month, I had also been looking for the Roan Antelope, but I realized they are a little harder to come by.

Last week, I was searching for a stock image of the roan antelopes for a collage. The image led me to Amazon, and I noticed there happened to be one set available with Prime shipping. Woohoo! I really enjoy these chance discoveries of retired figures.

The downside was that I didn't know the condition of the figures, and I worried about possible shipping damage. When they arrived, I took the female out of the box, saw a horn was missing, and had a moment of panic. I calmed down when I found the horn in the box and inspected it. Thankfully, it had broken off in such a way that would be relatively simple to glue back on. After her minor surgery, she is just fine. I feel lucky to have these antelopes joining my collection, and the male is undamaged, so it's all good.

I went to place my second order with TGF Toys hoping to acquire a few more bird and antelope figures. However, some of the Mojo and CollectA figures were still out of stock. They have been out of stock since January, when I placed my first order. I ordered the ones that were available. I didn't know when or if the others would be restocked. I was too eager to wait any longer for these magnificent figures, so I checked Ebay. There were two sellers that were offering free and fast shipping for some of the antelopes I was looking for. Perfect.

I decided to check out what else they were selling and came across the AAA wildebeest and gazelle. They were sort of strange, but I liked that. The only AAA figure I owned was a very nice, but huge, Toco Toucan. It hadn't crossed my mind that their other animals might also be bigger than average. I was surprised by the size of the gazelle. It's not a huge figure, but it is quite tall...much taller than my other gazelles, but that's okay. The AAA wildebeest is a similar size to the Schleich wildebeest.

Diving Grebe 03/05/14

I received the new diving grebe yesterday! It is from the Kaiyodo CapsuleQ Museum Animatales Series. An STS member sent it to me at a discounted price with free shipping! Unfortunately, the support piece was missing, so my Little Grebe is posing a bit differently than intended. The seller kindly offered to replace the figure, but I'm not sure it's worth the trouble. It is a marvellous figure regardless. Look at those feet!
